Piano and Orchestra Conductor

Pierre Khawam

Pierre is a visionary pianist, composer, and educator with a career spanning over 40 years. Classically trained at USEK (Lebanon) and the Royal College of Music (London), he emerged as a prodigy, leading an 18-piece band by age 18 and winning the prestigious "Layaly Lubnan" prize in 1985.

Throughout his career, Pierre has been a pioneer in the Arabic music scene, collaborating with icons like George Wassouf. Since moving to London in 1993, he has become a cornerstone of the city’s cultural landscape, serving as a prolific bandleader and composer with an archive of over 1,000 original arrangements.

He served as the Official Maestro for the Academy of Art and Arabic Heritage in Britain and is the founder of the Echoes of the Orient music collective, where he continues to bridge cultures through large-scale productions that fuse classical elegance with modern innovation.

Issam Mahmoud

Issam Mahmoud studied vocal performance at the Arab Music Institute in Cairo and is an accredited singer with Egyptian radio and television.
He participated in the Adwaa El Madina Concerts and Layali Al Mohammedia, and was a soloist with the Umm Kulthum Arabic Music Ensemble. He has collaborated with leading composers in Egypt.
He was also selected by the renowned composer Mohamed Abdel Wahab to perform at his birthday celebration alongside prominent singers of his generation, including Mohamed El Helou, Suzan Attia, and Ahmed Ibrahim.

Eleen Helal

Eleen Helal is a music teacher, folk arts instructor, and Samah dance specialist with roots in the Syrian performing arts tradition. She has performed at numerous festivals across Syria and the UK, collaborating with leading ensembles including the Orchestra of Syrian Musicians and Masters of Syria. Her performances have taken her to stages in Brighton, Manchester, Milton Keynes, and Birmingham. She is also a collaborator with DYARR Collective, London’s home for Arab artists and cultural exchange.

Oussama Kiwan

Born in Syria in 1971, Osama is a leading Arab male vocalist. He is a member of The London Syrian Ensemble, The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians, Masters of Syria, and Kiwan’s Family Ensemble.

He has performed at numerous prestigious concerts and festivals across Europe, including the Cambridge Folk Festival, Walthamstow Festival, Cully Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Liverpool Arab Art Festival, Holland Festival (Amsterdam), and Roskilde Festival (Denmark). Through the Orchestra of Syrian Musicians, he has collaborated with Africa Express and Damon Albarn. He is also a performing artist with DYARR Collective, a London-based Arab creative collective spanning music, poetry, food, and visual arts.

In Syria, Osama lent his voice to the theme songs of acclaimed Syrian television dramas, including the series Thel Imra’a (ظل امرأة), establishing himself as a recognised vocalist in the Arab world before his move to the UK.

As an Associate Artist of the Peace and Prosperity Trust, Osama has appeared as the Muezzin in numerous performances of Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, many produced by Raymond Gubbay Productions and conducted by Sir Karl Jenkins himself. He has also performed as the Muezzin with the Wells Cathedral Oratorio Society and is set to appear again at the Regent’s Park Festival in August.
